I’m happy to see that you’re interested in this awesome item that comes from my personal collection.
The original signature of legendary designer Karl Lagerfeld in this wonderful, wonderful book comes from Leipzig, Germany, where I met him back in 2013.
Karl Lagerfeld of course is a fashion icon like no other. He is best remembered as creative director of the French luxury brand CHANEL, for which he worked from 1983 until the end of his life in 2019. He also worked as creative director of the Italian brand FENDI – and of course worked for his own label, Karl Lagerfeld. He also was a successful photographer and collaborated on a large variety of fashion, design and art-related projects over the years. He was all over, all the time and everywhere.
In other words: He was one of a kind – and at the same time, kind enough to sign this beautiful volume in blue when I asked him to after he attended the "Wagner gala" at Leipzig Opera House where the European Cultural Awards were held in 2013.
The book itself is a massive and overwhelming collection of portrait photographs, taken by Karl Lagerfeld. The celebrities in this book all wear a "little black jacket" in their own way. The book is a must-have for any coffee table or library - and is long out of print. It has become something a lot of people are looking for, worldwide. With this one even being hand-signed by Karl Lagerfeld himself, it may even be unique. It is very likely that there is no second one signed by Karl Lagerfeld anywhere on the planet. This volume is in almost unused/unread condition - but of course shows signs of handling, storage and/or age (please see the attached photos). It comes from a pet-free/smoke-free environment.
Just like this signature, I obtain all autographs face-to-face (“in person“). I started collecting signed items back in 1985 and only decided to give some of them away several years ago.
